Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of Terms

By downloading, installing, accessing, or using the IMPULSE mobile application (the “App”) or the website located at impulseapp.website (the “Site”), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service (“Terms”). If you do not agree to all of these Terms, do not use the App or the Site.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 16 years of age to use IMPULSE. By using the App you represent and warrant that you meet this age requirement. If you are between 16 and 18 (or the age of majority in your jurisdiction), you represent that your parent or legal guardian has reviewed and agreed to these Terms on your behalf.

3. Description of Service

IMPULSE is a self-help mobile application designed to support individuals in their recovery from pornography addiction. The App provides:

  • •A guided urge-interruption Protocol (the "IMPULSE Protocol").
  • •Urge and relapse logging with emotional and contextual tagging.
  • •A personal dashboard with control-rate trends, trigger patterns, and time-saved metrics.
  • •Local push notifications for follow-up check-ins and inactivity reminders.

4. Medical & Health Disclaimer

IMPULSE is not a medical device and does not provide medical, psychological, psychiatric, or therapeutic advice, diagnosis, or treatment.

The content, tools, and exercises within the App are for informational and self-help purposes only. They are based on general behavioral-psychology principles (urge surfing, cognitive labeling, behavioral redirection) and are not a substitute for professional care.

If you are experiencing severe addiction, mental-health crises, suicidal thoughts, or emotional distress, please seek help from a qualified healthcare professional or contact an emergency service in your area immediately.

You acknowledge that any reliance on the information or tools provided by IMPULSE is at your own risk.

5. Account Registration

  • •You create an account by authenticating through Google or Apple OAuth. You do not create a separate password with IMPULSE.
  • •You are responsible for maintaining the security of the device and account used to access the App.
  • •You agree to provide accurate information. If your name or email changes, you may update it through your OAuth provider.
  • •You may not share, transfer, or sell access to your account.
  • •You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account.

6. User Content & Data

“User Content” refers to any data you enter into the App, including urge logs, relapse logs, contact form messages, and onboarding preferences.

  • •You retain ownership of your User Content.
  • •By submitting User Content you grant us a limited, non-exclusive licence to store and process it solely for the purpose of providing and improving the App.
  • •We do not access, review, or use your recovery logs for any purpose other than delivering the service to you, unless required by law.
  • •You may delete all of your User Content by deleting your account (see Section 11).

7. Subscriptions & Payments

Certain features of the App may require a paid subscription. Subscriptions are purchased and billed through the Apple App Store or Google Play Store, depending on your device. By subscribing you also agree to the payment terms of the applicable platform:

Subscription pricing, renewal periods, and cancellation policies are displayed before purchase and governed by the respective platform. We do not process or store any payment or credit-card information directly.

8. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

  • •Use the App for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any applicable law or regulation.
  • •Attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, disassemble, or otherwise derive the source code of the App.
  • •Interfere with, disrupt, or place an unreasonable burden on the App’s servers or infrastructure.
  • •Scrape, crawl, or use automated means to access the App or its data.
  • •Impersonate another person or misrepresent your affiliation with any entity.
  • •Share your account credentials or allow any third party to access your account.

9. Intellectual Property

All content, design, graphics, code, and functionality of the App and the Site — including the name “IMPULSE”, logos, the IMPULSE Protocol exercises, mascot illustrations, and milestone assets — are the exclusive property of IMPULSE and are protected by applicable intellectual-property laws.

You may not reproduce, distribute, modify, create derivative works from, publicly display, or commercially exploit any part of the App or Site without prior written permission.

10. Disclaimer of Warranties

THE APP AND THE SITE ARE PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.

We do not warrant that the App will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of harmful components. We do not guarantee any specific outcome from using the App.

11. Account Deletion & Termination

  • •By you — You may delete your account at any time from the Settings screen within the App. Upon deletion, all personal data associated with your account is permanently removed from our servers (see our Privacy Policy for details).
  • •By us — We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account if you materially breach these Terms, with or without prior notice.

12. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, IN NO EVENT SHALL IMPULSE, ITS OWNER, DEVELOPERS, OR AFFILIATES BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, USE, OR GOODWILL, ARISING OUT OF OR IN CONNECTION WITH YOUR USE OF OR INABILITY TO USE THE APP, REGARDLESS OF THE THEORY OF LIABILITY.

OUR TOTAL AGGREGATE LIABILITY FOR ALL CLAIMS ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO THESE Terms OR THE APP SHALL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU HAVE PAID US IN THE TWELVE (12) MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM, OR FIFTY US DOLLARS (US $50), WHICHEVER IS GREATER.

13. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless IMPULSE and its owner from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of or in any way connected with your access to or use of the App, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any rights of a third party.

14. Governing Law & Dispute Resolution

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of France, without regard to its conflict-of-law provisions. Any dispute arising from or relating to these Terms or the App shall be resolved exclusively in the competent courts of France, unless otherwise required by the consumer-protection laws of your jurisdiction.

15. Changes to These Terms

We may revise these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will provide notice through the App or via email at least 30 days before the changes take effect. The “Effective date” at the top of this page indicates when the Terms were last updated. Your continued use of IMPULSE after the revised Terms become effective constitutes your acceptance of those changes.

16. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable or invalid, that provision shall be limited or eliminated to the minimum extent necessary, and the remaining provisions shall remain in full force and effect.

17. Entire Agreement

These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and IMPULSE regarding your use of the App and supersede all prior agreements and understandings.
